後來流傳的佛經都說：

佛陀帶他的堂弟孫陀羅難陀，
去天上看看天女，讓他覺得他老婆很醜，
進而出家修行。哈

講的繪聲繪影，我們南禪讀書會討論過，
就算是天女也是南印度跟北印度的差別而已呀！哈哈😄

淨挑一些不關緊要的，不著邊際的話題，講得滿天飛！

為什麼不說？
佛陀讓孫陀羅難陀
看到釋迦族即將被滅，
跟祂修行或許是另外一個可以拯救家族的重大原因。

Transforming Greed into Clarity 2

 

Later Buddhist texts describe the Buddha taking his cousin, Nanda, to heaven to see celestial maidens,

leading him to view his wife as unattractive and choose monastic life. (Haha.)

 

Such accounts are vividly told. Our NanZen study clubhas discussed this before—
even celestial maidens would just reflect differences like those between South and North India! (Haha 😄)

 

People tend to focus on trivial and unrealistic details, and spread them widely.

 

A more meaningful perspective may be this:

The Buddha revealed that the Śākya clan was facing destruction.

Nanda’s decision to follow him in practice may have been driven by a crucial reason—perhaps even a way to save his family.
