Self-Reliance Through One’s Own Efforts
This morning, I opened a package of products from the Jing Si Abode of Tzu Chi in Hualien, Taiwan. They were a gift from Teacher Zhimei at the studying, club.
The Sage said, “They’re really doing well! They support themselves through their own efforts. He has already investigated everything!” 😄👍
Spiritual practice should create a pure land for people.
What happened over the past day or two.
Message 1
Good afternoon, Master.
This time, I became aware of just how confused and emotionally weak I was, and how strongly I was still attached to certain things.
(On the outside, everything seemed clear enough, but my rational mind and inner emotional and spiritual experiences were going in opposite directions. The mental anguish was becoming almost unbearable, so I reached out to you for help at the last minute. I am truly sorry for troubling you.)
Rationally, I have entrusted the matter to the doctor. But mentally, disturbing thoughts and images keep appearing. Sigh… The mental distress and the feeling of being deeply attached to something are so intense that I feel the word “torment” is not an exaggeration.
After reaching out to you for help, I felt much more at ease inside.
Master, you truly have a calming and stabilizing presence.
Message 2
Good evening, Master. (From another person.)
My eyelid still twitches from time to time, but the condition has improved significantly. Whenever I have a chance, I also spray some Great Compassion Water.
I silently recite the Heart Sutra in my mind.
Master, I am grateful to you for giving me a sense of stability and inner peace.
Throughout my own spiritual journey, I have always sought genuine experiences and responses in spiritual practice. They must be real.
Continuously verifying these experiences, again and again, without growing tired or impatient, is also a standard I set for myself.
If spiritual practice is nothing more than a collection of fantasies, I might as well go to work instead!
(I am grateful that the students I guide are willing to write honestly about their own mental and emotional states. This is not a sign of weakness. It is the beginning of progress!)
When I write about respected spiritual practitioners, whether Chinese practitioners or the Indian Sage, I also seek to ensure that what I write is true.
My writings are based on firsthand observations, which I share as a reference for those who wish to deepen their spiritual practice.
I am not trying to attack anyone.
If you truly cannot understand what an article is saying, please simply do not read it.
Master Banji
