禪宗
一個對佛法急著要了解的人，去請問一位禪師。「師父，我掛念著一切人情事物，該如何是好?」
禪師:請伸出你的左手。
弟子心想，為什麼是左手不是右手?不行，一定不要伸出去!太奇怪了?
禪師說: 怕什麼?兩手不都在你的身體上!怕什麼?
但他的弟子還停留在左手右手間擺盪，其他的話語在空氣中漂流消失。

Zen Buddhism
A person who was eager to understand Buddhist wisdom
turned
to a Zen master for advice.
‘Master, I care about all the persons and things in the world.
What should I do?’
The Zen master said, ‘Reach out your left hand, please.’
The pupil wondered, ‘Why the left hand, but not the right
hand?
No, I mustn’t reach out my hand. It is too odd’
The Zen master said, ‘What hesitates you? You have got
both
your hands on you. No need to be scared.’
However, the pupil kept thinking about his left hand or
right one,
only letting the rest of the master’s words vanished in the air.
